Our Pledge

We are a global movement of organisations and individuals dedicated to empowering people and communities by fostering safety, inclusion, and understanding for both neurotypical and neurodivergent experiences.

Our mission is to open gentle conversations and raise awareness of the power of our words in signaling safety, reducing fear, and promoting compassion. We recognise that while healthy fear can motivate positive action, it can also contribute to anxiety, resentment, anger, violence, injustice, and shame.

Our goal is to foster open, honest conversations about the language we use, with a focus on creating a society and communities free from unnecessary fear. We pledge to be mindful and intentional in our use of language in all forms - whether written, spoken, visual, in media, or music - understanding that language shapes not only our perceptions and experiences but also our nervous systems.

Through education, empathy, compassion, understanding, and inclusive communication, we aim to create environments where everyone can grow without the barriers of fear and shame. As an ever-evolving movement, we understand that growth is a continuous journey. As individuals and as organisations, we commit to learning, accepting our mistakes, and progressing forward.

When harm is caused, we commit to making reparations and nurturing a process of healing and development built on compassion. Our aim is not perfection, but rather a willingness to learn, adapt, and flow continually toward a more inclusive, safe, and understanding world.
